Update Anchor - MLB - Washington, DC

Under direct supervision, this position creates and delivers on-air MLB reports and produces various programming for the MLB channel.  Responsible for the two-per-hour news updates and use of the associated sound bites and clips extracted from talk shows, FTP sites, post-game interviews and various reports and sound from the field.  This position may, from time to time, be assigned to write and produce vignettes and features for the MLB channel or other Sirius XM channels as assigned by the Sr. Director of MLB Programming.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Research and produce special off-season/hot stove features and programs as directed
  • Work with members of the MLB staff to monitor events and retrieve/edit sound bites from shows and games
  • Write, produce and voice pre-game features for play-by-play channels
  • Write, produce and voice post-game wrap-up highlight shows
  • Assist or substitute in writing, voicing and producing 2x an hour baseball updates
  • Downloads clips/shows from FTP sites
  • Monitors assigned channel(s) for content and technical quality control
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Director, MLB.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of programming related experience at a satellite, traditional commercial, and/or college radio station


  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Strong interest in learning all aspects of sports programming
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to follow detailed direction and instructions through completion of tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities within a fast-paced and delivery-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with and manage a number of different personalities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to plan and manage projects from start to finish
  • Ability to be flexible and professional under pressure and deadlines
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Dalet preferred but not required
